GJYXFCH is an aerial self-supporting mini figure-8 (FIG8) FTTH drop fiber optic cable featuring a steel messenger wire and FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) strength members. It is specifically designed for the "last-mile" fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployment, enabling direct fiber connection from distribution points to end-user premises. Its integrated self-supporting structure, easy-stripping design, and excellent environmental adaptability make it a core product in FTTH access networks.
Structural Shape: Adopts a mini "figure-8" (FIG8) cross-section. The upper groove houses a steel messenger wire (for load-bearing and tension resistance), while the lower groove contains the fiber unit (with FRP strength members and optical fibers).
Core Configuration: Typically supports 1–4 cores of single-mode optical fibers, compatible with mainstream standards such as G.657A1, G.657A2, and G.652D. Fiber coloring complies with TIA/EIA-598 or IEC 60304 standards (e.g., blue, orange, green, brown for core identification).
Outer Sheath: Made of LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) material; optional UV (ultraviolet) resistant coating is available for long-term outdoor exposure scenarios.
Dimensions: Compact size with an approximate outer diameter of 5.0×2.0 mm, suitable for narrow-space installation (e.g., along building exteriors, eaves).
Typical Structure:
G.657.A2: Excellent bend resistance (minimum bend radius: 7.5 mm static / 15 mm dynamic), ideal for tight routing in indoor/outdoor transitions.
G.652.D: Universal single-mode fiber, compatible with long-haul and access networks.
Note: the messenger wire also can be designed as Stranded Steel Wires according to customer's requirements.
Features:
Self-Supporting Aerial Capability: The integrated steel messenger wire eliminates the need for additional suspension cables, reducing installation complexity and cost for outdoor aerial spans.
Superior Bend Performance: G.657.A2 fiber supports small-radius bending, enabling flexible routing around corners, walls, or tight spaces during last-mile (home entry).
Easy Installation & Termination: The butterfly-shaped structure has a pre-designed groove for quick longitudinal stripping, allowing fast termination with fusion splicers or mechanical splice-on connectors (SOCs).
Environmental & Safety Compliance: LSZH sheath produces low smoke and zero toxic halogens when burned, making it safe for indoor/outdoor transition areas (e.g., building shafts, basements).
Broad Standard Compatibility: Meets international and industry standards, including YD/T 1997-2009 (China), IEC 60794 (International Electrotechnical Commission), and GR-409/ICEA-596 (North America), ensuring interoperability with global FTTH systems.
Wide Temperature Range: Operates reliably in harsh environments, typically from -40 °C to +70 °C, suitable for most climates.
Applications:
Aerial Building-to-Building Connection: Installed between utility poles or building rooftops to connect fiber distribution boxes (FDBs) across residential communities, industrial parks, or campuses.
Pole-to-Building Aerial Drop: From street utility poles to the exterior walls of residential/commercial buildings, then routed along eaves or wall-mounted cable trays to enter the building.
Indoor-Outdoor Transition: After aerial deployment to the building exterior, the fiber unit (separated from the steel messenger wire) is routed through wall penetrations, cable shafts, or indoor (trays) to reach user-specific optical network terminals (ONTs).
Narrow-Space Installation: Suitable for old communities or dense urban areas where installation space is limited (e.g., along narrow building gaps, under eaves).
Core Count Selection: Choose 1–2 cores for single-user homes; 4 cores for multi-dwelling units (MDUs) or scenarios requiring backup fibers.
Environmental Matching: Select UV-resistant models for long-term outdoor use; choose extended temperature-range versions for cold regions (-40°C) or high-temperature areas.
Mechanical Requirement Check: For longer aerial spans (e.g., >50 meters), confirm the cable's long-term tensile strength with the manufacturer to avoid sagging or breakage.
Installation Precautions:
Reserve 5–10% length for thermal expansion/contraction when installing in areas with large temperature fluctuations.
Maintain a minimum bending radius (≥15 mm) during routing to avoid fiber damage.
Secure the steel messenger wire at fixed intervals (recommended ≤20 meters) to prevent excessive tension on the fiber unit.
