Armored Butterfly Duct Drop Cable GJYXHS

GJYXHS/ GJYXHA Armored Butterfly Duct Drop Cable

Overview:

GJYXHS/GJYXHA is a bow-type (drop) fiber optic cable for FTTH (Fiber to the Home) access networks, categorized as "duct-introduction type". It features a metal armor layer and outer sheath added to the outer side of a standard bow-type drop cable, making it suitable for outdoor duct installation and direct introduction from outdoor to indoor environments. It offers moisture resistance, lateral pressure resistance, and moderate tensile strength.

Model Interpretation:

The model "GJYXH…" denotes bow-type drop cables for duct applications. Key suffixes and components are defined as follows:

• GJYXHA: Longitudinally wrapped aluminum tape (marked by "A" for aluminum+PE bonded sheath).

• GJYXHS: Longitudinally wrapped steel tape (marked by "S" for steel + PE bonded sheath).

• F (if included): Non-metallic strength member (e.g., FRP); absence of "F" indicates metallic strength members.

Typical Structure of Duct Drop Cable (GJYXHS/A):

The typical GJYXHA/ GJYXHS duct bow-type drop optical fiber cable is composed of one GJXH cable in the middle and two Metallic strength members (Steel Wires) on both sides, longitudinal wrapped by aluminum tape / steel tape and then PE sheath is extruded outside.

Middle GJXH cable construction: the optical fiber unit is positioned in the center, two parallel steel wires as strength members are placed at both sides, then a LSZH jacket.

•  Name & Standards:

• GJYXHA: Metallic strength members + aluminum tape armoring

• GJYXHS: Metallic strength members + steel tape armoring

Both belong to the "duct-use drop (bow/butterfly-type)" cable structure, compliant with relevant telecom fiber optic cable standards.

• Cross-Section Structure (From Inside to Outside):

  1. Central Butterfly Cable Core: 1–2 fibers (typically G.652D or G.657A optical fiber, optimized for low loss and bending resistance).

  2. Parallel Metallic Strength Members: Steel Wires on both sides of the core, providing mechanical support against tension and compression.

  3. Longitudinal Water-Blocking Tape: Wrapped around the core to prevent longitudinal water penetration.

  4. Longitudinal Armor Layer:

GJYXHA: Aluminum tape (enhances moisture resistance and electromagnetic shielding).

GJYXHS: Steel tape (significantly improves lateral pressure resistance and rodent protection).

      5. Outer Sheath:

HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene): For outdoor use, offering weather resistance and UV protection.

LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen): For indoor/vertical shaft applications, meeting flame retardancy and low-              toxicity requirements.

Features:

• Easy Stripping & Splicing: The notched design of the butterfly core allows quick stripping of the sheath, simplifying fiber splicing or connector termination (reducing on-site construction time).

• Mechanical Performance:

• Parallel strength members ensure excellent tensile (short-term tensile force up to 2000 N) and compression resistance.

• Steel tape armoring (GJYXFHS) provides superior lateral pressure resistance (withstands 200 N/100 mm flattening force) and anti-rodent capability, suitable for harsh installation environments.

• Environmental Protection:

• Longitudinal aluminum/steel tape + water-blocking tape achieves comprehensive moisture and water blocking, preventing fiber damage from humidity or water intrusion.

• HDPE sheath resists aging and UV radiation; LSZH sheath minimizes smoke and toxic gas release in case of fire, ensuring safety in enclosed spaces.

• Typical Operating Parameters:

• Operating temperature: -20°C to +60°C

• Bending radius: ≥10D (dynamic) / ≥20D (static, D = cable outer diameter)

• Service life: ≥20 years (under standard operating conditions)

Applications:

1. Outdoor Duct Installation: Pulled through underground or overhead ducts to connect central offices (CO) to residential/commercial buildings.

2. Direct Indoor Introduction: Can be directly routed from outdoor ducts into indoor distribution boxes (e.g., building entrance terminals) or user premises (e.g., home optical network units, ONUs).

3. High-Demand Duct Environments: Ideal for ducts with high moisture levels, potential lateral pressure (e.g., crowded duct banks), or moderate rodent activity (PSP armor in GJYXHS offers better anti-rodent protection).

Selection & Installation Tips:

• Selection Guidelines:

• Prioritize GJYXFHS for scenarios requiring strong mechanical protection (e.g., direct burial, rodent-prone areas).

• Choose GJYXFHA (preferably with LSZH sheath) for standard duct installation, indoor use, or environments emphasizing flame retardancy and low toxicity.

• Moisture Resistance Priority: Select GJYXHA (APL armor). Aluminum tape provides excellent moisture barrier performance, suitable for humid duct environments (e.g., underground ducts in rainy areas).

• Higher Mechanical Protection: Select GJYXHS (PSP armor). Steel tape offers stronger lateral pressure resistance and anti-rodent capability, ideal for crowded ducts or areas with rodent infestations.

• Indoor Safety: For indoor segments (e.g., from building entrance to user home), choose models with non-metallic strength members (suffix "F") (e.g., GJYXFHA/GJYXFHS) to avoid lightning-induced current or strong electric field hazards.

• Core Count & Termination: 1–4 cores are the most common (sufficient for single-user or multi-user shared access). For high-density applications (e.g., office buildings), opt for fiber ribbon models (suffix "D") to increase core count.

• Installation Precautions:

• Strictly adhere to bending radius requirements (≥10D dynamic / ≥20D static) to avoid fiber micro-bending loss.

• Clean ducts and apply lubricant before cable pulling to reduce friction damage.

• Remove residual water-blocking materials from the fiber surface before splicing to ensure connection quality.

• Secure strength members and seal cable terminals according to specifications to prevent moisture ingress.
