GYFXTC8Y Outdoor Mini FIG8 Aramid Yarn Reinforced Self-supporting Aerial Fiber Optic Cable 2core-24core
GYFXTC8Y is a mini "figure-8" (FIG8) aerial self-supporting fiber optic cable reinforced with aramid yarn. It adopts a central loose tube structure, making it particularly suitable for FTTH (Fiber to the Home) aerial self-supporting deployment. Its core advantages include light weight, easy installation, excellent environmental resistance, and good bending performance.

GYFXTC8Y fiber optic cable is a type of self-supporting figure-8 aerial cable with stranded steel messenger and Aramid yarn reinforcement, designed for outdoor optical communication networks.
Shape & Integration: Features an integrated "figure-8" cross-section, combining two key components in one structure: the loose tube optical unit (for fiber protection and transmission) and the messenger wire (steel stranded, for load-bearing during aerial suspension). This compact design eliminates the need for additional supporting cables, simplifying aerial deployment.
Reinforcement & Protection: Aramid yarn (a high-strength, lightweight synthetic fiber) is evenly wrapped between the cable core and outer sheath to enhance tensile strength and buffer external impacts. The outer layer is made of polyethylene (PE) sheath, which provides reliable protection against outdoor environmental factors such as UV radiation, moisture, and mechanical abrasion.
Detailed Structure:
| Layer | Composition & Function |
| Optical Fiber Core | Single-mode fibers (e.g., G.652D, G.657A1) or multi-mode fibers (e.g., 50/125 μm, 62.5/125 μm, OM3, OM4), depending on application requirements (bandwidth, transmission distance). |
| Central Loose Tube | Made of Polybutylene terephthalate(PBT). It encloses the optical fibers and is filled with water-blocking gel to prevent moisture intrusion and protect fibers from micro-bending. |
| Aramid Yarn Reinforcement | High-strength aramid yarn (e.g., Kevlar®) wrapped around the loose tube. It provides axial tensile strength and radial cushioning, reducing fiber stress during installation or under wind/ice loads. |
| Messenger Wire | Galvanized steel stranded or single steel wire (integrated in the "8" shape's upper lobe). It bears the main tension of the cable during aerial suspension, ensuring stable support across spans. |
| Outer Sheath | Low-friction PE or medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) sheath. It acts as the outermost barrier against UV, moisture, corrosion, and physical damage. MDPE is optional for scenarios requiring easier pulling during auxiliary installation. |

Mechanical & Thermal Stability: The cable's fiber excess length is precisely controlled during manufacturing, balancing tensile resistance (to withstand aerial tension) and thermal cycle performance (stable transmission under temperature fluctuations from -40°C to +70°C, typical working range).
Water Blocking Performance: Double water-blocking design—(1) gel filling in the loose tube; (2) water-swellable materials (optional) in the cable core gap—achieves reliable longitudinal water blocking, preventing moisture from spreading along the cable length.
Excellent Bending Performance: With a small outer diameter (mini design) and low bending radius (static bending radius ≈ 10× cable diameter; dynamic bending radius ≈ 20× cable diameter), it can adapt to narrow installation spaces (e.g., between buildings, along utility poles) without compromising fiber performance.
Long Service Life & Compliance: Designed for a service life of ≥ 30 years under normal outdoor conditions. It complies with international and industry standards, such as IEC 60794-1 (International Electrotechnical Commission) and YD/T 1155 (China's communication industry standard), ensuring compatibility and reliability.
Lightweight & Easy Installation: Compared to traditional aerial cables, its mini size and light weight reduce the load on utility poles. The integrated "8" shape allows for one-time suspension and fiber deployment, shortening installation time and labor costs.
GYFXTC8Y is widely used in optical communication networks, especially in access network scenarios requiring flexible, cost-effective aerial deployment:
FTTH Aerial Deployment: Primary application for connecting central offices (COs) to residential buildings or individual homes. It is ideal for self-supporting installation across short to medium spans (e.g., between utility poles, along building exteriors) in urban, suburban, or rural areas.
Inter-building Connectivity: Used for fiber links between adjacent buildings (e.g., campus networks, industrial parks) where aerial routing is more efficient than underground piping.
Fiber Type & Core Count: Choose single-mode fibers (G.652D/G.657A1) for long-distance (≥10 km) FTTH links; select multi-mode fibers (OM3/OM4) for short-distance, high-bandwidth applications (e.g., enterprise LANs). Core counts (2–24 cores) should match the number of end-users or devices.
Span & Sag Control: The recommended maximum aerial span is ≤ 50 meters. To avoid excessive tension or sag, maintain a sag ratio of ≥ 1% (sag length / span length) during installation, especially in areas prone to strong winds or ice accumulation.
Bending Radius Compliance: Strictly adhere to the minimum bending radius (static ≥10D, dynamic ≥20D, where D = cable outer diameter) during pulling or routing to prevent fiber micro-bending and signal attenuation.
Environmental Adaptation: Confirm the cable's temperature range (-40°C to +70°C for standard models) matches the local climate. For coastal areas with high salt spray, opt for cables with stainless steel messenger wires and anti-corrosion PE sheaths.
Span distance depends on cable specification, wind & ice load and local meteorological conditions. Normally recommended span: 30–80m. Longer span requires mechanical calculation and custom messenger wire.
Standard design uses galvanized stranded steel messenger wire for tensile load; Phosphated steel messenger also available for economical choice.
All-dielectric Figure 8 (FRP messenger) can be customized as your request.
